Registration:
Registration at the online site will be open for any Holy Hammers volunteer to sign up for any day in the project. However, we encourage volunteers to try first to sign up for one of the days assigned as a focus day for your congregation if one of those works with your schedule. That way folks are more likely to find others they know at the site and will help us distribute volunteers evenly across the project.

The focus days for Shepherd are:
May 16, May 27, June 29*

*Women only

Number of Volunteers each day: 8-10
The maximum number allowed is set due to safety, supervision, and productivity issues on site. All volunteers must sign up online ahead of time. The online sign-up system will limit the total workers each day. Volunteers who arrive without signing up may be sent home.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines:
  • All volunteers must indicate that they have either been vaccinated OR have tested negative for COVID-19 within 48 hours of each time on site. Volunteers will be asked their vaccination status when signing up online.
  • KN95/N95 Masks are required for all volunteers, AmeriCorps members, staff, and visitors for interior work, regardless of vaccination status. For those who are fully vaccinated, masks are encouraged, but optional, for exterior work. Unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask at all times.
  • Please read our full COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for more details.
Volunteer Guidelines:
  • Volunteers must wear sturdy, closed toe, closed heel shoes to participate (tennis shoes or work boots are great).
  • Please bring refillable water bottles to the site. We will have water on site to replenish your bottles.
  • Bring work gloves if you’d like to use your own. All sites will also have some available for use.
  • Holy Hammers volunteers will be providing lunch to the workers. If you have special dietary requirements, we ask that you bring your own lunch. Volunteers are discouraged from leaving the site for lunch.
  • Youth under 16 are not allowed on site. All 16- and 17-year-olds on site must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older.
  • Please read our full Volunteer Guidelines for more details.

tanzania sibling congregation
Through the Saint Paul Area Synod and ELCA Global Mission, Shepherd has the opportunity to partner with Bega Kwa Bega ("Shoulder to Shoulder") and the Kidamali congregation in Iringa, Tanzania. We are able to support and pray for their ministry as they in turn do the same for ours, here in Shoreview. Click here for more information.
